Vision

Situated in the heartland of the Tibetan plateau, the Norlha workshop has created new activity from the spinning and weaving of khullu, the precious fiber that insulates yaks from the harsh winter. Norlha is involved in every step of the process, from collecting to spinning and weaving the khullu into fine textiles. All work is done by hand, insuring the quality and authenticity of the final product. The result is a textile that is both soft and rugged, combining the luxury that emanates from a noble fiber with the warmth and comfort that it harbors.

Wealth of the Gods

Norlha means “wealth of the Gods” Millions of yaks roam the high altitude pastures providing the nomads with all their needs: milk, the source of butter and cheese, and hair, which they weave into the heavy black tents that characterize nomad country. Norlha and the nomads transform this wealth into wool products worthy of the gods, in a workshop surrounded by yaks and pasture.
